I'm trying to run
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register '$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml'}
from Power Shell as administrator in order to restore broken Search and Cortana functionality. But at some point it just fails with
Add-AppxPackage : Deployment failed with HRESULT: 0x80073D02, The package could not be installed because resources it modifies are currently in use.
error 0x80004004: Unable to install because the following apps need to be closed
Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy!CortanaUI.
What is the proper way to run Get-AppXPackag to avoid (or work around) such conflict?

3 years agoHi All,
Sorry for posting this here but I feel people here are more accommodating than the windows 10 subreddit.
The issue I have is that once I upgraded to Windows 10, I used the Amputate everything through Windows Powershell (Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage), courtesy of /u/ShadowShine57.
What I forgot about is that it also removes the store. Now, at the moment, it isnt an issue but further down the line I might need or want something from there.
However, I have tried so many links and help from googling this issue to death that I am still unable to get the store back. What alot of fixes assume that the C:Program FilesWindowsAppsMicrosoft.WindowsStore_2015.7.22.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe files still exists on the machine which mine done.
Last resort is a refresh but I am reluctant to do so as I will have to re-install everything.
Anyone come across this issue or have a hint as to what I need to be looking out for?
As an Idea as to what I have done so far:
1 - from Powershell ran: Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore (No Joy)
2 - went through the guide here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows8_1-update/troubleshooting-component-store-system-files/8acbd614-678d-42b9-859c-56d3e6f8342a
3 - ran via the command prompt: powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRootWinStoreAppxManifest.xml
but I always get the following error: Add-AppxPackage : Cannot find path 'C:WINDOWSWinStoreAppxManifest.XML' because it does not exist. At line:1 char:1 + Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRootWin ... + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ + CategoryInfo : ObjectNotFound: (C:WINDOWSWinStoreAppxManifes t.XML:String) [Add-AppxPackage], ItemNotFoundException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : PathNotFound,Microsoft.Windows.Appx.PackageManag er.Commands.AddAppxPackageCommand
4 - also ran on powershell: Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register '$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml'}
Add-AppxPackage : Deployment failed with HRESULT: 0x80073D02, The package could not be installed because resources it modifies are currently in use. error 0x80004004: Unable to install because the following apps need to be closed Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy!CortanaUI. My Next step is trying to get the WindowsStore folder.
Any help would be awesome :)
